Eight Canadian digital marketing agencies across Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, checked on their own websites, with the bilingual, anti-spam and pricing questions Canadian buyers need to ask.
- Eight agencies across Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, verified on their own websites and listed alphabetically by city.
- If you sell in Quebec, French ads and landing pages should be written natively; Bill 96 rules took effect June 1, 2025.
- CASL governs email and SMS: consent, sender identification and a working unsubscribe are required.
- Use Google's own SEO hiring guide to vet any SEO company in Canada; no one can guarantee a #1 ranking.
Canada's agency market is spread across three very different hubs. Toronto has the biggest concentration of corporate and B2B work, Vancouver has a strong tech, ecommerce and real-estate scene, and Montreal brings bilingual and French-first expertise that the rest of the country often has to buy in. This guide lists eight digital marketing agencies in Canada across those cities, and explains what to check before you hire one.
It also covers two things that are specific to the Canadian market: French-language requirements in Quebec and Canada's anti-spam law, which changes how email and SMS campaigns must be run.
Disclosure: Appryze compiled this list. We are a performance marketing and app team based in New Delhi with no office in Canada, and we are not included or ranked here. Agencies are listed alphabetically within each city. Each office location, founding year and service described below was checked on the agency's own website in November 2026. We have not included ratings, prices, client names or awards, because we could not verify them independently.

French, Quebec and bilingual campaigns
If you sell into Quebec, language is not a nice-to-have. Quebec's Charter of the French Language was tightened by Bill 96, and new rules took effect on June 1, 2025. As DLA Piper summarizes, commercial advertising must generally be in French, and other languages may appear only if French is markedly predominant.
What this means when you hire an agency:
- French should be written, not translated. Ask who writes French ad copy and landing pages, and whether they are native Quebec French writers.
- Run French campaigns as their own campaigns. Separate ad groups, keywords and creatives for French-language users, rather than mixed-language ads.
- Check landing pages and forms. A French ad that sends people to an English-only checkout wastes spend and creates compliance questions.
- Plan search keywords in both languages. French search terms in Quebec rarely map one-to-one to English ones.
This is practical guidance, not legal advice. Have counsel review anything customer-facing in Quebec.

Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL) affects any email or text marketing an agency runs for you. According to the Government of Canada's CASL guidance, you need express or implied consent to send commercial electronic messages, each message must identify the sender and include contact details, and every message needs a working unsubscribe that is honored within 10 business days.
Ask any agency that will touch email, SMS or lead nurturing how it records consent, how it handles purchased lists (it shouldn't use them), and who is accountable if a complaint arrives.

Hiring an SEO company in Canada
If organic search is your priority, Google's own guide, Do you need an SEO?, is the best vetting checklist available. It warns that no one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google, suggests asking for examples of past work, timelines and how success is measured, and recommends giving an SEO read-only Search Console access for an audit. Appryze does not sell SEO services, so treat this as neutral buyer guidance. Our notes on how to choose an SEO company apply equally in Canada.
Typical agency pricing in Canada (CAD)
Canadian agencies rarely publish prices. These are labelled typical ranges based on common market rates, and actual quotes vary widely by agency size, scope and ad spend.
- Monthly retainers: often around CA$2,500–CA$15,000+ per month for small and mid-sized businesses.
- Paid media management: commonly 10–20% of ad spend, usually with a minimum monthly fee.
- SEO retainers: typically from about CA$1,500–CA$8,000+ per month depending on site size and content volume.
- Projects: fixed fees for audits, websites or launch campaigns.
Keep media money out of the agency's invoice: Google, Meta and the other platforms should charge your own card or account. Check whether quotes include GST/HST.
Red flags
- Promises of first-page rankings or a fixed cost per lead before seeing your data.
- English ads "auto-translated" into French for Quebec.
- Email programs built on purchased lists.
- Ad accounts owned by the agency, not by you.
- Reports that stop at clicks and impressions.
A remote option for paid performance
If your need is paid acquisition rather than SEO, PR or bilingual brand work, the operator behind your account matters more than the city. Appryze is a New Delhi team running Google Ads, Meta, Amazon and app campaigns, with call times that overlap US business hours (which also covers Eastern Canada), weekly written updates and every ad account in your name. Campaigns are run under a founder who has spent more than twelve years buying growth on Google, Meta and Apple Search Ads. See our performance marketing page, or compare US options in top digital marketing agencies in the USA and more digital marketing guides.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose a digital marketing agency in Canada?
Start with your primary goal and the provinces you sell into, then shortlist agencies whose core discipline matches. Check for French-language capability if Quebec matters, ask for reporting in CAD, meet the account lead, and confirm that ad and analytics accounts will be created in your company's name. Agree a written 90-day plan before signing a long contract.
How much does a digital marketing agency cost in Canada?
Few agencies publish prices. As a typical range, monthly retainers for small and mid-sized businesses often run from about CA$2,500 to CA$15,000 or more, and paid media management is commonly 10 to 20 percent of ad spend with a minimum fee. SEO retainers vary with site size and content volume. Ad spend and sales tax are usually separate.
What should I look for in an SEO company in Canada?
Ask for examples of past work, realistic timelines and how they measure success, and be wary of anyone promising a #1 ranking, which Google says no one can guarantee. Give read-only Search Console access for audits, ask whether they follow Google Search Essentials, and if you sell in Quebec, confirm they can do French keyword research and content.
Do I need French-language ads to advertise in Quebec?
Generally yes. Under Quebec's Charter of the French Language, as amended by Bill 96 with new rules from June 1, 2025, commercial advertising must generally be in French, and other languages may appear only if French is markedly predominant. Have counsel review your materials, since this is general guidance, not legal advice.
Does Canada's anti-spam law affect digital marketing?
Yes, for email, text and other commercial electronic messages. CASL requires express or implied consent, sender identification and contact details in every message, and a working unsubscribe that is honored within 10 business days. Ask any agency running email or SMS for you how it records consent and avoids purchased lists.
Does Appryze have an office in Canada?
No. Appryze is based in New Delhi and serves North American clients remotely, with call times that overlap US business hours, including Eastern time, and weekly written updates. We run Google Ads, Meta, Amazon and app campaigns with every ad account owned by the client. We do not offer SEO and are not included in the list above.
