AppsFlyer vs Adjust vs Branch: an honest MMP comparison for app teams
All three are capable MMPs, but they started in different places and price differently. Here's how they compare and which fits your stage and channel mix.
- AppsFlyer and Adjust are attribution-first; Branch is deep-linking-first with attribution on top.
- AppsFlyer Growth gives 12,000 free conversions in year one, then $0.07 each; Adjust Base is free up to 1,500 monthly attributions for 12 months.
- Fraud protection and advanced features often sit on higher plans or add-ons, so compare like-for-like quotes.
- Choose by channel mix: paid UA across many networks favors AppsFlyer or Adjust; link-driven growth favors Branch.
If you're comparing AppsFlyer vs Adjust vs Branch, you're choosing the system that will decide which ad channel gets credit for each user, and therefore where your budget goes. All three are capable mobile measurement partners (MMPs). They differ in where they started, how they price, and which jobs they're strongest at.
The short version: AppsFlyer and Adjust are attribution-first platforms with deep linking added; Branch is a deep-linking-first platform with attribution built on top. Which one fits depends on your stage, your channel mix and how much of your growth runs through links rather than ads.
What an MMP actually does
Before comparing vendors, be clear about the jobs you're hiring one for:
- Attribution: matching each install and in-app event to the ad, campaign or link that drove it, across Google, Meta, Apple Ads, TikTok and ad networks.
- iOS privacy measurement: handling SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit postbacks, conversion value schemas and modeled reporting for users who decline App Tracking Transparency.
- Postbacks to ad networks: sending in-app events back to networks so their algorithms can optimize for purchases or signups, not just installs.
- Deep linking: sending users from an ad, email, SMS or web page to the right screen in the app, including after install (deferred deep linking).
- Fraud protection: detecting fake installs, click injection and bots so you don't pay for them.
- Data access: raw data exports, cohort reports and connections to your warehouse or BI tool.
Without one, you're relying on each ad network's self-reported numbers, which overlap and over-claim. For more on why event setup matters, see our guide to app install campaign optimization.
Be equally clear about what an MMP won't do. It won't tell you why users churn; that's product analytics (Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel). It won't prove incrementality on its own; you still need holdout or geo tests to know whether a channel created users or just claimed them. And it won't fix bad event design: if your tracking plan is wrong, every vendor will report the wrong thing very precisely. Get the event plan right first, then choose the vendor.

AppsFlyer: pricing and fit
According to AppsFlyer's pricing page, AppsFlyer currently lists three plans:
- Zero: free, for owned media only. AppsFlyer states it's not suitable for apps running paid campaigns.
- Growth: pay-as-you-go basic attribution for paid campaigns, with 12,000 free conversions in the first year and $0.07 per conversion after that.
- Enterprise: custom pricing, with advanced features such as fraud protection, deeper SKAN tools and dedicated support.
Fits best: apps planning serious paid UA across many networks, teams that want rich built-in analytics, and companies that expect to scale into an enterprise contract. The pay-as-you-go tier makes it easy to start, but model your cost per conversion as volume grows, and confirm what counts as a conversion on your plan.
Adjust: pricing and fit
Adjust's pricing page lists three tiers:
- Base: free for small developers, up to 1,500 attributions a month for the first 12 months, with email support.
- Core: for mid-sized apps, up to 250,000 annual conversions, priced on request with volume discounts.
- Enterprise: for apps above 2,500,000 annual conversions, priced on request.
Advanced features, such as the Fraud Prevention Suite, TrueLink, audience building and campaign automation, are sold as add-on "Growth Solutions" for Core and Enterprise clients.
Fits best: teams that want a solid attribution core and prefer to add features as needed, and companies that care about data residency and access controls. Ask for quotes with and without the add-ons you'll need, especially fraud prevention, before comparing with AppsFlyer.

Branch built its business on deep linking and added attribution on top. Its links power routing from web, email, SMS, QR codes and social into the right app screen, and its measurement ties those owned-channel journeys to paid campaigns in one data model. Pricing is quote-led; contact Branch for current plans. Note that Branch's comparisons with other MMPs on its own site are marketing claims, so verify them in a trial with your own data.
Fits best: apps where a large share of growth comes from owned and earned channels (email, SMS, web-to-app, referrals, social sharing), commerce and media apps with complex linking needs, and teams that want deep linking and attribution from one SDK. If paid UA across many ad networks is your main growth engine, compare its network integrations and SKAN tooling closely with the other two.
Which MMP fits which stage
| Your situation | Usually a good fit |
|---|---|
| Pre-launch or very early, no paid spend yet | Firebase / Google Analytics for events, plus a free MMP tier to get the SDK in early |
| First paid tests on one or two networks | AppsFlyer Growth or Adjust Base; both are low-cost to start |
| Scaling paid UA across many networks, heavy iOS spend | AppsFlyer or Adjust on a negotiated contract, with fraud protection |
| Growth driven by web-to-app, email, SMS, referrals | Branch, or an attribution MMP plus its deep linking product |
| Regulated data or strict data residency needs | Whichever vendor meets your data processing terms; check residency options and contracts |
How to evaluate before you sign
- List your channels for the next 12 months and confirm each vendor integrates with all of them, including postbacks for the events you'll optimize toward.
- Estimate volume: monthly installs and attributed conversions, and ask each vendor to quote at today's volume and at three times that.
- Test the SDK in a development build. Check app size impact, how it handles consent, and how easy server-to-server events are to send.
- Review iOS reporting: how they handle SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit conversion values, and what modeled data they show. Ask specifically where each vendor stands on AdAttributionKit, Apple's newer framework. Our SKAdNetwork attribution guide covers what to look for.
- Check data access: raw data exports, warehouse connectors and API limits on your plan, not the top plan.
- Read the contract: overage pricing, auto-renewal, minimum commitments and what happens to your data if you leave.
Switching MMPs without losing data
Migration is doable, but plan it. Run both SDKs in parallel for a few weeks and compare numbers before switching networks' postbacks. Export your historical raw data from the old vendor before the contract ends. Recreate links and deep link routes carefully, because broken links in old emails and QR codes are the most common migration casualty. Update every partner and ad network integration on the same day you cut over, and tell your finance team which numbers will change.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between AppsFlyer, Adjust and Branch?
All three are mobile measurement partners that attribute installs and in-app events to marketing sources. AppsFlyer and Adjust started as attribution platforms and are strongest for paid user acquisition across many ad networks. Branch started as a deep linking platform and is strongest when growth comes through links in web, email, SMS, referrals and social, with attribution built on top.
Is AppsFlyer free?
AppsFlyer lists a free Zero plan, but it is meant for owned media and AppsFlyer says it is not suitable for apps running paid campaigns. Its pay-as-you-go Growth plan includes 12,000 free conversions in the first year and then charges $0.07 per conversion, according to its pricing page. Enterprise plans are custom priced. Check the page for current terms.
Does Adjust have a free plan?
Yes. Adjust's Base plan is free for small developers and covers up to 1,500 attributions a month for the first 12 months, with email support. Larger apps move to the Core or Enterprise tiers, which are priced on request based on volume. Features such as the Fraud Prevention Suite are sold as add-ons for Core and Enterprise clients.
Do I need an MMP if I only advertise on Google and Meta?
Not always at the very start, since Google and Meta can measure their own campaigns with Firebase and the Meta SDK. Once you run more than one channel, each network's self-reported results will overlap and overstate, so an MMP gives you one consistent source of truth and handles iOS SKAdNetwork reporting. Many teams add one before scaling spend.
Can I switch from one MMP to another?
Yes. Run both SDKs in parallel for a few weeks to compare numbers, export your historical raw data before the old contract ends, rebuild deep links carefully so old links keep working, and switch ad network postbacks on a single planned date. Expect reported numbers to shift slightly because each vendor's attribution rules differ.
